2026 promises to be a fantastic year of fun and learning for Alamance Piecemakers!
PREVIEW of UPCOMING PROGRAMS:
- Retreat for a day! (Tuesday, January 20), 9 AM-4PM “Landlocked Quilt Cruise on the S.S. Elmira.” Bring your own project and food for the potluck lunch. Machine sew or hand sew – your choice! (Signups encouraged.)
- Monthly Meeting (Wednesday, January 21), 9 AM – Our program is “A Trip to the International Quilt Museum” by Connie Griner.
- Several “Skill-Builders Workshops” are planned throughout the year. First topic will feature “Nine Patch, Monkey Wrench, and Churn Dash” blocks.
- Special Presentation at the Quilt Show on Friday, March 6. 6 PM in the sanctuary of Elon Community Church. Speaker is Lee Chapel Monroe. “Are you a Modernitional Quilter?” Free for guild members, $10 per guest – pay at the door.

- February 3 – Artsy Group – “Pixel Quilts” – 9:30 AM to 2 PM. Doors open at 9.
- February 4 – Skill-Builders Workshop #1 – Basic Blocks (Sign up required)
- February 17 – Workshop “Mixing Prints” by Tara Miller (Sign up and fee reqd)
- February 18 – Monthly meeting
- February 23-26 – Drop off show quilts to Connie (You know who you are.)
- March 1-7 QUILT SHOW WEEK. ALL HANDS ON DECK!
- March 6 – Quilt Show Speaker, Lee Chapell Monroe. At Elon Community Church, sanctuary. (See description above.)
- March 18 – Monthly meeting – Quilt Show Recap and Discussion
- April 2 – Uncle Eli’s Quilting Party (not a guild function, but don’t miss it!)
- April 7 – Artsy Group

Starting in January of 2025, the editor of our monthly newsletter is “Lovely Leona,” who always tries (and usually succeeds) to add a special fun and flair to our guild! She has already christened the monthly update with a formal name, “The Quilt Connection.” You can find the current edition here.
Here is Leona’s introductory message, in the first edition:
After much thought and consideration, I chose QUILT CONNECTION because quilting is what binds us to each other, our families, and our friends. I thought it was cute to use some of these suggestions as headers for the different types of news we send out each month. My goal is to continue to make the newsletter informative and fun.
